BPLTC Noticeboard JUNIOR / INTERMEDIATE NEWSLETTER 2009 A very warm welcome to 2009 at BPLTC! This is a particularly exciting season as we celebrate our 100th birthday and we hope as many of you as possible will take part in our planned celebrations and activities. Centenary Junior Open Day ? Sunday 19 April at 1pm We are going to officially start the season for the Juniors / Intermediates on Sunday 19 April with a Centenary Junior Open Day. You are ALL welcome to come along to the Club, with your parents, to find out more about the Junior section of the Club. Bring your friends ( they might decide they like tennis too!), bring your racquets ( there will be some games and drills) and come and tell us what junior activities you would like to get involved in this year. We are keen to hear your ideas! East of Scotland Leagues This year we are planning to enter 8 teams in the Aegon Team Tennis East of Scotland Junior Leagues across the U12 to U18 age-groups. As current members know, taking part in the League fixtures are a great source of fun and enjoyment - so anyone interested in playing in the Leagues this year please contact me on the numbers below or let me know at the Open Day. A big thanks to all the team managers and other parent volunteers who helped to run the various teams last year ? your help is invaluable and much appreciated. We are on the look-out for parent volunteers for this year so please let me know if you are interested in helping out?????failing that we will try to seek you out! Junior Coaching / Squad Sessions There are a considerable number of coaching events / squads available for you to join, all run by our Club Coach, Brian Barnet. See Brian?s ?Tennis Coaching Newsletter? attached for full details. If you interested in coaching of any kind then Brian is your man! He will tailor coaching to suit your needs so don?t hesitate to give him a call to discuss. Centenary Celebration Saturday Morning Sessions On 16 May we are commencing a 6 week series of Centenary Celebration Saturday morning sessions run by Brian. These sessions will involve fun games and drills and are open to all. Bring your friends, tell people at school and let?s get as many Juniors along as possible to have fun on a Saturday morning. See Brian?s Newsletter for the age-group timings and get them noted on your calendar today! Junior Tournaments As in prior years we are planning to run a number of Junior Tournaments in conjunction with Blackhall. We already have dates organised for a Senior School Tournament, a Primary School Tournament, a Junior American Tournament and the Road To Wimbledon competition. See Brian?s Newsletter for these very important dates and get them in your diary now!! More Competitive Opportunities???Mini Tournaments This year we hope to run a number of mini tournaments at the Club to help those that are interested in improving their ratings or for those who simply enjoy playing competitive matches with other members. Again let me know if this is something you are interested in and we?ll see what we can arrange. Even More Competitive Opportunities???Box Leagues As another means of encouraging you all to play we would like to introduce Box Leagues. A Box League will consist of 6 players, who will be as far as possible of the same standard. All players will be encouraged to play matches with the other players in the league over a period of time and as you win, you move up the league. At the end of the period you may then have the opportunity to move up to a higher league???.and the process starts again. For the older boys we are trying to start a ?Super League? where some Senior members ( only those brave enough of course!!) may make themselves available to take you on! So there is no limit to the Box League set up! Very importantly?.. even if you don?t win, the great thing about the Box Leagues is that you will have the opportunity to play lots of tennis with other Club members AND you don?t have to win matches to win a prize because there will be one available for the Junior who plays the most matches in the Box Leagues. Let either myself or Brian know if you want to join a league and we can get started quickly! For those interested these matches will count for ratings purposes. Communication ? We Don?t Want You To Miss Out! We want to ensure you know what?s going on during the season so we are planning to issue a monthly newsletter. To help us with this would you please : - provide your e-mail addresses on your subscription returns - keep an eye on the Clubs website www.barntonparkltc.co.uk - Keep checking the Notice Boards at the Club We really don?t want you to miss out! And Finally????? We hope you have a great 2009 season and hope to see many of you at the Club. If you have any ideas for activities / events that you would like to see at the Club please do not hesitate to call either Brian or myself below ? we?d love to hear from you! So dust down your racquets and let?s make this 100th Birthday Year one to remember! See you soon!
